California Election Nov 2010 Progressive Voter Guide
Endorsements
Please take a moment to VOTE in this coming election!
It’s imperative that we retake the SBCC school board for the
community, keep Meg out of the State Capitol, and, if nothing else, legalizing
marijuana should be worth getting up off the couch for!
Focused on Santa Barbara, CA. You can figure out much about other local races by checking the sources for my research, below.

MEASURES SUBMITTED TO VOTERS
STATE PROPOSITIONS
Prop

Prop
19: Legalize Marijuana: VOTE YES
Prop 20: Empower Citizen’s Committee to Redraw Political Districts: VOTE NO
Mmm...I'm nervous about this one. It sounds good, but based on who is for and against, I've changed my vote from YES to NO. It sounds really populist, and the Independent said yes, but the Sierra club and most other progressives oppose it.

About Judicial Retention Elections
http://www.voterguide.sos.ca.gov/voter-info/about-judicial-retention-elections.htm
When a state Supreme Court or Court of Appeal justice is near
the end of a term in office, voters are asked to decide if the justice will be
retained (continue to serve) for an additional term. This is known as a
retention election.
In retention elections, justices do not run
against opposing candidates. If a justice receives a majority of
"yes" votes, the justice may remain in his or her position. If a
justice receives a majority of "no" votes, the justice will complete
his or her current term, then a new justice will be appointed by the governor.
OPPOSITE DAY:
My judicial recommendations above are the opposite of what these evangelical christians recommend (thanks for doing all this research; and helping me vote my values!)
